Students must use discourse to engage with the Science Standards (NGSS), but what if students do not speak the language of instruction? Learn specific strategies and supports to create a welcoming environment for student language use and acquisition in inquiry-based science. Participants will leave with ready-to-use instructional practices such as explicit literacy instruction, learning science content and language together, and leveraging native language skills to implement in their school to support students who do not speak the language of instruction.
